BRING CHILDREN FROM STREETS
First Lady School was established with the mission of providing children, especially girls, with access to quality education in a safe and supportive environment. Built as part of BCFSU’s vision to transform lives through learning, the school ensures that children receive both academic knowledge and opportunities to grow holistically. Through this commitment, First Lady School continues to serve as a beacon of hope for vulnerable children who would otherwise miss out on education.
The school is located in Nabusanke, close to the Equator, and officially opened in January 2018. It offers a preschool department for children aged 3–6 years as well as primary education from grade one to seven. The school is well-equipped with classrooms and a boarding department, making it possible for children, particularly those from disadvantaged areas such as Katanga slum, to live and study at the school. The facilities are designed to create a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students.
The main goal of First Lady School is to deliver quality education while promoting equal opportunities for girls. The mission is to empower young learners with knowledge, discipline, and confidence, while encouraging them to pursue sports alongside their academics. The school sustains its operations through dedicated teachers, boarding services, and ongoing support from partners and well-wishers. Plans for the future include further strengthening its focus on girls’ education, expanding extracurricular opportunities, and ensuring that all children, regardless of background, have access to transformative education.
First Lady School is guided by objectives that focus on academic excellence, empowerment of girls, and holistic child development.
The expected impact of First Lady School is to empower children, particularly girls, through access to education, sports, and life opportunities that break cycles of poverty and disadvantage. By giving students a safe space to learn and grow, the school builds their confidence, resilience, and independence. Its work will not only benefit the children but also uplift their families and communities, helping to shape a future generation of educated, empowered, and responsible citizens.
